Watch The Hold Steady play ‘Family Farm’ on ‘Late Night With Seth Myers’

Last night, The Hold Steady returned to Late Night With Seth Myers to play new track Family Farm from their brand-new album, Open Door Policy.

The album, released last week, is another boisterous record full of the triumphs and pitfalls, filled with characters from the mind of Craig Finn moving through their lives. You wouldn’t mind raising a glass and shouting the words to one song and then find yourself contemplating the darkness creeping in at the edges during the next.

The Hold Steady’s current lineup is the combination of two distinct previous lineups — one with horns and twin lead guitars and the other with the keys and vocals of Franz Nicolay. And it’s now one powerhouse sound, the end result of which feels the most Hold-Steady-ish they’ve ever been. If that makes sense.
